Frequently Asked Questions

What is OEM glass?
An OEM (original equipment manufacturer) replacement windshield is produced from original equipment-style tooling. This type of windshield will have the appearance of your car's original windshield and will fit properly in the window frame making noise and leakage problems less likely.

Will my insurance pay for a repair?
In most cases, if you have comprehensive insurance, the insurance company will pay for the repair.

Will Dothan Glass Company bill my insurance company?
Yes.

How long will it take to replace the windshield?
The length of service will vary depending on the windshield, the adhesives used, the thoroughness of your technician, and "safe drive time" (the amount of time your vehicle must sit before you can legally drive again after the replacement).

Can you replace the other auto glass on my vehicle?
Yes, we can replace the door glass, vents, back glass, quarter glass.

Are there any special precautions I should take after my windshield has been replaced?
Yes, you need to roll your door glass down a little bit and not slam the door for the first 24 hours after replacement. We also recommend that you should not pressure wash your vehicle for three days.

If I have a rock chip, can I wait to have it repaired?
No, you really shouldn't delay. The windshield is an important structural element of your car. If weakened due to untended damage, it will not provide optimal protection in an accident. Many small chips or surface cracks only affect the outer layer of the windshield, so it can be mended before it gets any worse - and requires more time and money to fix.

What will the auto glass shop most likely ask me when I call?
We need to know the year, make and model of your vehicle, the type of damage you have and when / where you need the work performed.
